The $5,000 received in funding is part of the 2009-2010 NRMA Insurance Community Grants Program, an initiative that supports local organizations working to make our community safer.

The  "Slow Down Around Schools" project objectives is to educate all road users on the significance of safer travel through school zones, understanding of the crash risks and how to minimize risks and the legislation and enforcement associated with speeding through school zones.

The campaign will be conducted between August 2009 and June 2010 and will run across each of the Primary Schools in Tumut, Gundagai and Tumbarumba.

The campaign is also aimed at raising road safety awareness for children aged 5 to 12 years.

The campaign will involve the utilization of a speed detection board as well as child size silhoutte signs with the message 'Slow down around schools', being visibly placed within the school zone.
