Child Restraints
Since the implementation of the authorised restraint fitting station regular campaigns are conducted to raise community awareness of the importance of having child restraints fitted correctly.
Until the commencement of the Road Safety Officer position in September 2001, Gundagai Shire Council never had an authorised restraint fitting station. This meant that residents who wished to have a child restraint fitted had to travel to Wagga Wagga. In 2002, BJ & DA Smith Motors in Eagle Street South Gundagai, was trained to be an authorised restraint fitting station.
Information packs have been developed advertising the restraint fitting stations and the importance of correctly fitted restraints. This material has been distributed to child care centres, hospitals and preschools, and is also available at authorised restraint fitting stations.
