Gundagai Shire Council has a ranger - weeds inspector conducting noxious weeds inspection, eradication and monitoring in accordance with Council's agreed Weeds Action Plan. Council is part of the Eastern Riverina Weeds Action Group (ERNWAG).
Weeds spraying in townships are conducted after a formal advertising in the local newspaper of such activities. Roadside weeds spraying outside of township is exempt though Council maintains a program by its inspector.
The inspector is also responsible for informing Council of any breaches of the Noxious Weeds Act by individual landowners.
It is Council's practice to seek compliance through discussion with landowners and to achieve a mutual outcome by setting reasonable timeframes for managing noxious weeds rather than enforcement.
