CHILDREN'S SERVICES

CHILDREN'S SERVICES SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT WORKER

Working from the Gundagai Neighbourhood Centre to enhance the role of established Children's Services and support families in the Gundagai Shire. This is a funded position through the "Stronger Families and Communities Strategy". Local Answers Program.

These initiatives are:

  • Newsletters and contacts with services and agencies
  • Supported Playgroups
  • Parenting skill program
  • Transition to school

The Support & Development Worker also co-ordinates the annual Children's Week Event "Fun in the Park" which involves all schools, children's services and groups and emergency services.

Childcare for Neighbourhood Centre Activities

The Neighbourhood centre occassionally holds meetings, seminars or training courses that some parents would like to attend but can't because they have no one they can leave their children with or childcare cost is an issue.

If enough notice is given that childcare is needed the Neighbourhood Centre may be able to arrange for a suitable person to care for the children at the Centre while the parents attend the activity. While the Centre will endeavor to offer this service it will depend on numbers.

Parents will, in the first instance be encouraged to use the Gumnut Childcare Centre or registered Family Day Carer.
