Identifying the needs of young people in the community.

YOUTH PROJECT

To identify the needs of young people in the community and work with youth and local groups and services to develop strategies to benefit youth.

Objectives

*To engage youth in planning services, activities and community events

*To research the needs of young people and encourage their participation in promotion and implementation of identified projects

*To provide information and refferals to services for individuals and families in crisis

*To form a Youth Representative Council

Activities Proposed   

*To provide coordinated support networks in the community for specific groups currently identified as high need

*To provide refferal to services for youth with mental health, abuse, gambling, alcohol and drug related issues

*To provide refferals to assist individuals and families in crisis

To provide social activities for local youth

Each year Neighbourhood Centre Staff Co-ordinate Youth Week on behalf of the Gundagai Shire Council. Youth Involvement in the planning, Promotion and Delivery of the Activities offered during Youth Week has ensured the continued sucess of this annual event.

We also work in conjunction with the Gundagai High School and other local businesses, services and groups and gratefully aknowledge their support during Youth Week and other Youth Activities held throughout the year.
